About WASSA WASSA
WASSA WASSA is a small 3-room inn in Ogimi Village, northern Okinawa — one of the world's famous Blue Zones, known for its extraordinarily long-lived community. Opened in 2014, the inn is run by husband-and-wife team Yuji and Risa Mizokawa, both trained chefs who left Tokyo to bring their culinary craft to the heart of Yambaru.
Facing Nerome Beach and backed by subtropical jungle, the inn offers an unhurried pace and a deeply personal welcome that larger resorts simply cannot provide.
Step outside into nature's living classroom. Search for creatures along the shoreline, then gather under a sky full of stars to share the day's adventures. Meals are prepared with care — local seasonal ingredients, allergy-friendly on request. With no TV in the Superior rooms, conversation flows naturally around the dinner table.
Friends, multi-generational families, anniversaries — WASSA WASSA accommodates up to 4 guests per room (or more across rooms), offering a private, unhurried experience far from the tourist crowds of southern Okinawa.
Two room types — two different moods
Approximately 20 m². Two rooms available (S01 / S02). Warm amber walls, dark wood furnishings, and a distinctive arched alcove give the room its character. No TV (available on request). Guests have access to the outdoor bath (swimwear required).
A self-contained private cottage with its own private bathroom. Designed for those who want complete seclusion — and the option of an Ayurvedic wellness experience. TV included.
Something you can only find here
Every guest who makes the journey deserves something truly special. Yuji, a chef trained in Tokyo's restaurant world, brings fresh seafood from Hentona fishing port and seasonal Okinawan vegetables together in a cuisine that is neither purely Japanese nor purely Okinawan — but entirely WASSA WASSA.
Agu Pork Grill Course — 1 night, 2 meals included. A celebration of Okinawa's prized Agu heritage pork, grilled and served with seasonal accompaniments.
Seafood Course — 1 night, 2 meals included. The freshest catch from local waters, prepared with precision. (Upgrade available with 3 days' notice.)
Breakfast included — Local ingredients, handcrafted morning meal. Bento-style breakfast, perfect if you plan to explore nearby Junglia or the aquarium.
Room only (素泊まり) — For those who prefer to dine out and explore the local area.
